SUNJECT: $800 Frank White Memorial Scholarship for 2008/9 School Year
The Bucks County EMS Chiefs’ Association will award an $800 Frank White Memorial Scholarship each year to the most promising paramedic student. Applications (attached) must be returned by the applicant to you no later than 1 October of each year and you must forward your choice (one only) to the Chairperson of The Bucks County EMS Chiefs’ Association Frank White Memorial Scholarship Committee no later than 15 October of each year in order to be considered. Please post these applications as soon as possible.
The Frank White Memorial Scholarship is open to all new paramedic students and to paramedic students already enrolled but not graduated from paramedic school, from squads that service Bucks County residents and whose squads are paid up members of The Bucks County EMS Chiefs’ Association as follows:
Application process: Applications (attached) are to be forwarded to the Chief of the applicant’s primary organization for review no later than 1 October. The Chief will decide on one applicant from each Squad to be forwarded no later than 15 October to the Chairperson of the Frank White Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee of The Bucks County EMS Chiefs’ Association, 1705 LaRue Lane, Warrington, PA 18976-2213. This committee will review each submitted applicant based on the criteria listed below.
Applicants (paid or unpaid) must have been accepted to a paramedic program for the coming year and have proof of acceptance submitted with their application. The paramedic program can be anywhere within the continental United States.
Applications must also have copies of EMT certification, EVOC certification, valid driver’s license and placement test results attached. A letter of recommendation from the Chief must also accompany the application. For a paramedic student already enrolled, a letter of recommendation form the lead instructor is required in lieu of the placement test results.
The Frank White Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $800 and is to be given outright and with no other provisions than those listed above based on the applicant meeting the following criteria:
- Must be an active EMT in good standing in Bucks County for a minimum of 1 year
- Individual who exhibits an eagerness/strong initiative to learn
- Applicant must satisfy all criteria as required by Act 45
- No past criminal record
- Be eligible to drive at their Squad
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
- Applicant must submit to a personal interview by the Scholarship Fund Subcommittee
